Porcelain Veneers

Porcelain Veneers

Looking to improve a number of imperfections in your teeth? Veneers can cover virtually any imperfection with little damage to your natural teeth.

A veneer is a thin layer of porcelain that is made to fit over the front of the tooth in a similar way to a false nail fitting over your fingernail. Normally veneers are constructed using porcelain, which is semi-translucent as dental enamel is. Veneers are used to improve the colour, repair a chipped tooth or close a small gap between teeth where braces are not suitable.

The dentist will prepare your teeth and then take impressions which will be sent to the laboratory for the technician to create the veneers. At your second appointment, the veneers will be bonded in place using a special adhesive. You will not need to wear a temporary in between visits as there is very little preparation to your tooth.

Benefits

Veneers do not change colour over time
– Veneers will not pick up staining in the same way as your natural teeth. Veneers can help to give you a whiter smile that will last as long as they are cared for.

Veneers can cover virtually any imperfection, including gaps, chips, and stains – veneers can provide a great way to improve your smile without the need for extensive restorations

Veneers are extremely lifelike – Dental porcelain is semi-translucent, meaning that light reflects off of the restorations just as it does off of dental enamel. Veneers therefore match very closely the natural colour of your teeth and should be indistinguishable from your natural teeth.

Veneers are durable – veneers are hard wearing and allow you to eat a varied diet without fear.
